This simple fall simmer pot fills your home with the comforting scents of apple, orange, cinnamon, cloves, rosemary, star anise, and vanilla.

Ingredients

  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2–3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 2–3 star anise
  • 1 small sprig of rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Water to cover

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a pot and cover with water.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer uncovered.
  4. Add more water as needed as it evaporates.

Tip: Keep an eye on the water level while it simmers, and never leave the pot unattended on the stove.
