Looking for an easy Halloween dinner idea that’s fun without being complicated? These Ghosts in a Blanket are an adorable Halloween twist on the classic pigs in a blanket—and they’re surprisingly simple to make.
With just refrigerated crescent roll dough and hot dogs, you can turn an everyday favorite into little edible ghosts. Serve them with ketchup, mustard, or your family’s favorite dipping sauce for an easy Halloween dinner, movie-night snack, or party treat.
The best part? You don’t need any special decorating skills to make them!
👻 Ghosts in a Blanket
Ingredients
- 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 package hot dogs
- Ketchup and mustard for serving
- Optional: 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water for a more golden finish
Instructions
1. Cut the hot dogs
Cut each hot dog in half crosswise to make shorter pieces. Each half will become the body underneath one little ghost.
2. Drape the dough
Separate the crescent roll dough into pieces. Lay a piece of dough over the top of each hot dog half, allowing the dough to hang down around the sides.
You want the hot dog covered at the top while leaving enough dough hanging down to create the ghost’s flowing “blanket.”
3. Shape your ghosts
Gently shape and flare the bottom of the dough so that it resembles the wavy bottom of a ghost.
Don’t worry about making every one identical! A little variation actually makes your group of ghosts even cuter.
4. Make the faces
Using a straw, piping tip, or another small round tool, carefully make two eye holes and one larger mouth hole completely through the dough.
The hot dog underneath should show through the openings, creating the ghost’s face.
5. Bake
For a more golden finish, lightly brush the dough with the optional egg wash before baking.
Bake at 375°F for approximately 10–14 minutes, or according to the directions on your crescent roll package. The dough should be golden brown and the hot dogs heated through.
🎃 Serving Ideas
Serve your Ghosts in a Blanket warm with little bowls of ketchup and mustard for dipping.
They’re perfect for:

You could even arrange several ghosts together on a platter with the dipping sauces in the center for an easy Halloween party tray.
